The Historic Preservation Board (HPB) of the City of Titusville, Florida met in regular session at City Hall in the Council Chamber, located at 555 South Washington Avenue on Tuesday September 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.

Chairman Kiesel called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m.  Present were Vice Chairman Petyk, Secretary Adams, Member Gaetjens, Alternate Member Shifalo and Alternate Member Davis. Member Foster and Member Jonas were absent. Also attending was Redevelopment Planner Tim Ford and Recording Secretary Laurie Dargie.

Vice Chairman Petyk motioned to approve the minutes from the August 1, 2022 meeting. Secretary Adams seconded. There was a unanimous voice vote in favor.

Petitions & Request 

 

Jim Ball came representing the Titusville Playhouse and made a request asking if the Historic Preservation Board would reconsider the previously made motion pertaining to 428 Julia Street regarding the paint colors. Mr. Ball explained how the white paint color as the base coat is not fully covering the stucco. Mr. Ball requested that they be allowed to work with the Historic Preservation Officer (HPO) and pick a darker base color that is allowable on the color sample that was provided by the HPO.

 

The Historic Preservation Board members agreed to allow Mr. Ball to speak with the Historic Preservation Officer and discuss allowable paint colors that could be brought before the Historic Preservation Board for approval.

Chairman Kiesel requested that the Historic Preservation Board hear agenda item 7C first. The Historic Preservation Board members agreed to hear this item first.

New Business

 

Nomination form HPB#1-2022 for 4050 Coquina Avenue

The City of Titusville’s Historic Preservation Officer, Pat Tyjeski, gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding this item.

The Historic Preservation Board had discussion regarding the nomination.

Vice Chairman Petyk made a motion to approve the recommendations by the Historic Preservation Officer regarding HPB#1-2022 nomination for 4050 Coquina Avenue and send it for review and approval by City Council.  Secretary Adams seconded.

Old Business

 

Preservation on Main Street Conference Update

Member Shifalo gave an update regarding the conference that she attended. Member Shifalo thanked City Council and the Historic Preservation Board for allowing her to attend. Member Shifalo said that it was very good and beneficial.

 

 

Reports

 

Mr. Ford provided updates regarding the items in the agenda under staff report.
