Community Service Award Select Committee
May 28, 2020
The Titusville Community Service Award Select Committee held a regular meeting on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 555 South Washington Avenue, Titusville, Florida.
With a quorum present, Vice-Chairperson Dr. David Price called the meeting to order at 12:58 p.m. Also in attendance were Members Lisa Mosier and Maggie Penton as well as Staff Liaison Caitlin Rodriguez.
The first order of business was the approval of the minutes of the February 27, 2020 meeting. Member Mosier moved to approve the minutes and Member Penton seconded the motion. All were in favor.
The main purpose of the meeting was to select the recipient of the 2020 Community Service Award. The nominees were Joe Robinson, Ed Rodriguez, and Hollie Anderson. The committee discussed the nominations that the committee received. Next, the voting process was established by the committee and the members took time to assign scores to the nominees. Once noted on the ballots, Ms. Rodriguez tallied the members’ votes. Joe Robinson received the majority vote.
The next item of business was to select the award for the recipient. The members were presented with a choice of five awards from the Airflyte 2020 catalog. Liaison Rodriguez advised that the committee should select their top three choices for the award due to the pandemic in case there was an award on backorder. After a brief discussion, the committee chose award #K9196 as their first choice and all were in agreement.
Liaison Rodriguez reminded the committee that the ceremony would be held on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. The Elk’s have a new facility and would be hosting the Flag Day Ceremony at the Titusville Mall and they should enter through the Bealls Outlet entrance. Liaison Rodriguez asked the committee about their preference for refreshments. The committee agreed to skip the refreshments this year due to the pandemic. Staff Liaison Rodriguez also requested the committee’s opinions on how the committee would like to present the award if for some reason the Flag Day ceremony was cancelled due to the pandemic.
At 1:14 p.m. with no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
