LAB PERSON

TO ALL CITY OF TITUSVILLE WATER CUSTOMERS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION UPDATE ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER

RESCISSION OF BOIL WATER NOTICE

The Boil Water Notice Issued On August 6, 2021 IS HEREBY RESCINDED following the completion of additional sampling and the satisfactory completion of the bacteriological survey and the FDEP’s (Florida Department of Environmental Protection) assessment that the water is safe to drink.

All City of Titusville drinking water customers were notified on August 6, 2021 of the detection of a fecal indicator, E. coli, in our raw water (unprocessed) water samples from each of our wellfield sample points. On August 6, 2021, we learned that samples taken on August 4, 2021 were E. coli positive (this is a 48-hour test). We immediately collected new samples from all three raw water sources. No E. coli, was present in the samples taken on August 5, 2021 from each of the three raw water sources. As required by EPA’s Ground Water Rule, we collected samples from these sources within 24 hours to determine the extent of the problem. An additional fifteen samples were taken on August 6, 2021. Results receive on August 7, 2021 do not show the presence of E. coli.

WHAT IS BEING DONE? To ensure drinking water safety, the City of Titusville has continued to sample the wellfield sample points and on August 9 will sample each of the City's 38 wells that operated during this event. To ensure that all sampling procedures were conducted properly, the sampling events conducted on August 7, 2021 were audited by multiple trained personnel including City laboratory staff members. The City of Titusville's Laboratory Services personnel also conducted an audit of their testing procedures and found no irregularities. Laboratory Services testing processes includes multiple quality controls, all of which have tested negative for irregularities. A thorough disinfection of the sample testing area and testing materials has been performed to prevent cross contamination between sampling. The City of Titusville will continue to review its sampling processes and procedures.
