[ARCHIVED] Titusville Drinking Water PFAS Testing

In June 2022, EPA issued drinking water health advisories for PFAS.  Here is the latest info about PFAS testing in the City of Titusville public drinking water system.

What is PFAS?

PFAS stands for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances.

What are the health risks of PFAS?

See https://www.epa.gov/pfas

What are the PFAS testing requirements in the Titusville water system?

PFAS monitoring falls under the EPA Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR), which is followed by the City of Titusville per our Florida DEP public drinking water permit.  This Rule last required PFAS testing of the Titusville water system in 2014.  This Rule schedules the next PFAS sampling event for 2024.

Has the City of Titusville conducted any other PFAS testing of the drinking water system?

No.  The City of Titusville follows the testing requirements of our Florida DEP permit, which are based on EPA national drinking water rules.  The City performs a significant amount of pollutant testing under the federal and state regulatory programs.

What are the City of Titusville drinking water test results for PFAS?

On 10-08-2014, the City sampled and tested for six PFAS compounds from our water treatment plant and from a second sample of water supplied to Titusville by the Cocoa public water system. These two samples represent all of the water in our system.  The tests results were "Non-Detected" for all PFAS compounds.

The results of the 10-08-2014 laboratory report are summarized below.  Copies of the actual lab report pages containing PFAS test results can be obtained free of charge by contacting the Water Resources Department at 321-567-3855.
