A local man has been arrested in connection to a burglary occurring on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at approximately 1:45 PM from a residence along the 1600 block of South Street.
Lynn Scott Foster, 62, who resides within the City of Titusville, was arrested and charged with Burglary and subsequently booked into the Brevard County Jail and without bond.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect entered onto the victim’s property and took a package off the porch without authorization. Unbeknownst to the suspect, his criminal actions were captured on video via the victim’s home surveillance system.
The incident video footage was posted on social media by the victim and officers within the Titusville Police Department Community Service Unit (CSU), quicky recognized the suspect, worked with the victim to collect investigative evidence, located the suspect, and took him into custody on Monday, August 18, 2024, without incident.
“Burglary of a dwelling, including attached porches, with the intent to commit a crime is an arrestable offense”, said CSU Lieutenant Josh Bernd. “Our team is dedicated to stop crimes, including “Porch Pirate” theft, and we strongly urge community members to contact our department when they have information about these type of incidents”, added Bernd.
