The Titusville Police Department’s (TPD) K9 Scooby has officially retired from law enforcement duties after nearly 8 years of service.
Scooby, a Belgian Malinois, began his career at our department in March of 2017, when he was just 10 months old, along with his litter mate, K9 Chase.
Scooby, a dedicated partner to 4 TPD handlers, has spent the last 3 ½ years with K9 Officer Jacob Weaver.
Scooby’s training and skill encompass the disciplines of apprehension, obedience, narcotics detection, and tracking.
As a dual purpose K9, Scooby’s career-long certifications hail from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, as well as the National Narcotics Detector Dog Association.
“Scooby was an asset to the Titusville community because of his tireless work effort producing many apprehensions and several notable narcotic discoveries resulting in arrests”, said K9 team leader Sgt. John Cantalupo. “He will always remain a beloved team member of our department and will retire comfortably at home with K9 Officer Weaver”, added Cantalupo”.
