This section investigates all major crimes as well as certain other felonies such as grand theft auto and burglaries. Many of the detectives assigned to CIS have specialty training to investigate crimes in specific field's such as identity fraud and sexual offenders.
This unit consists of three full-time Crime Scene Technicians who are tasked with processing crime scenes in the field, processing evidence items in the lab at the police station, and tracking all property and evidence submitted by officers and Crime Scene Technicians. The technicians also utilize the AFIX system (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) to upload latent fingerprints from crime scenes and search and compare them to suspect known prints in the local database system.
Property and Evidence is the central repository for all property and evidence that is held by the Titusville Police Department relating to criminal and civil matters.
This unit is tasked with major drug investigations and other vice-related crimes including prescription fraud and prostitution illegal drug use.
