What We Do
Public Works Stormwater Utility focuses on ways to reduce flooding throughout the city and improve the health of local water bodies. We have a robust construction program of projects that have had and continue to have significant impact on improving the quality of stormwater discharges to the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) and the St. John’s River. These projects have significantly reduced the nitrogen and phosphorus levels in local stormwater runoff, as well as having reduced the amount of debris it contains.
Titusville has received over $20 million dollars in funding for stormwater projects related to the Indian River Lagoon. Funding has been received from Brevard County Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL), the St. Johns River Water Management District, and the State of Florida.
Our Stormwater Utility maintains and repairs the publicly owned portion of the City of Titusville's stormwater system, including both open and closed drainage networks and retention ponds. The system includes:
