Managed Aquatic Plants Systems

Managed Aquatic Plant Systems (MAPS) or floating wetland islands are harvestable mats with floating wetland plants that are placed within wet stormwater retention ponds.  These plants utilize the nutrients in the water to grow.  The plants are routinely harvested or trimmed in order for them to keep up taking the nutrients from the pond.  This results in less nutrients leaving the pond and eventually entering receiving water bodies like the Indian River Lagoon.
