Community Paramedic Program
The Titusville Fire Department is proud to announce the initiation of its newest service to our citizens; The Community Paramedic Program. There are many times in people’s lives that require additional medical and social services that are above and beyond the 9-1-1 system we know and trust. The Titusville Fire Department Community Paramedic Program aims to bridge the gap in medical care to improve upon the current pre-hospital care provided and to get our community members the care they desperately need.
Community issues creating the need for a Community Paramedic Program:
- Annual increases in emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Increased demand to North Brevard hospitals with low acuity incident types
- Lack of understanding on how to mitigate their medical needs outside the 9-1-1 system
- Avoidable medical issues-created due to the lack of resources
Program Goals:
- Help the citizens of Titusville safely navigate through their daily lives without losing their much-desired independence
- Reduce overall health care costs
- Reduce hospital wait times overall
- Educate and re-direct community members to other resources available to better suit their individual needs
- Helping to enhance services of existing community resources
What services the program offers to the community at large:
- Wellness checks
- Fall, Fire and Medical risk assessments
- Vital checks (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Oxygen Saturation, Blood Glucose)
- “File of Life”
- Assistance obtaining door key boxes, grab rails, life alert pendants
- Resource liaison
